The Gallery
You might buy an antique for any number of reasons. Maybe you’re an obsessive collector chasing your next hit. Maybe you love candlelight and your dining room is begging for a beautiful pair of candlesticks. Maybe your partner loves watching Gilded Age and needs a birthday gift.
The collection you’ll find at Curious Objects is not like a traditional home goods store, or even a traditional antiques gallery. The collection isn’t strictly limited by time, geography, or medium. It’s a small, focused group of pieces with two things in common:
World-class craftsmanship. All pieces are original works, handmade by some of the greatest artisans in history, and are immaculately preserved.
Riveting stories. Each piece has an eye-opening story to tell – a story that you can share with your friends and family.
Trust is the currency of the antiques trade, and authenticity and transparency are the cornerstones of Curious Objects.
Ben L. Miller
Ben entered the antiques world after meeting an antiques dealer at a bar. Quite by accident, he found myself working for that dealer at one of the world’s premier galleries. He fell in love with the objects, the craftsmanship, the detective work and storytelling.
He cut his teeth on early English and American silver. These are great storytelling objects. Because silver was money, it was more carefully recorded and regulated than most objects. Those records often survived through the centuries (in some cases recorded on the objects themselves), making these pieces into evocative time capsules.
In 2017, Ben started a podcast called Curious Objects, which investigates the stories behind all manner of antique decorative arts. Through interviews with experts, Ben tries to understand the rich narratives around the world’s most interesting pieces. That same concept eventually birthed this company, as a home for all manner of compelling, masterfully made, narrative-rich pieces.
