The Fine Print

At Curious Objects, we are committed to transparency, professionalism, and care in all transactions. This Policy sets out our approach to refunds, returns, delivery, cancellations, and inspection of items.

All information, photographs, and prices provided on this website are subject to change.

1. Taxes

— New York state residents are subject to New York State sales tax. In New York City, that amounts to 8.875%. Taxes, tariffs, and duties for items shipped outside of New York state are the responsibility of the purchaser.

2. Returns & Refunds

— Returns are accepted within 14 days of receiving the item.

— Refunds are subject to a restocking fee, and transaction fees (e.g. credit card processing) will not be refunded. Items must be returned in the same condition they were received.

— After 14 days, return requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. In some cases it may be possible to issue a store credit for the purchase value (less transaction costs).

— Consultation, advisory, or curatorial services are non-refundable.

3. Shipping & Transit Responsibility

— Curious Objects will recommend and coordinate with trusted professional shippers experienced in handling fragile and valuable works.

— However, all shipping arrangements are ultimately made at the client’s discretion and responsibility. Transit insurance is required and provided through the shipper.

— Curious Objects is not liable for any loss or damage that occurs in transit; any claims must be filed directly with the shipping provider.

4. Reservation, Delivery & Postponement

— Once payment is received, the piece is reserved exclusively for the buyer and withdrawn from sale.

— Free delivery is offered within New York City, using appropriate white-glove or specialist services.

— If the buyer requests delayed delivery (e.g. for installation, storage, or site readiness), Curious Objects will hold the piec for a reasonable time, but this does not create grounds for cancellation or refund.

5. Cancellations

— Orders for unique or custom pieces cannot be cancelled once payment is received.

— In the rare event that Curious Objects cannot supply a piece as promised, a full refund will be issued.

6. Inspection & Reporting

— All items are handled and inspected with the utmost expertise prior to delivery.

— Upon receipt, buyers should examine the piece promptly. If there are concerns regarding condition or accuracy, clients must notify us within 48 hours of delivery, providing photographs, documentation, and a clear description.

— Failure to provide timely notification may limit eligibility for review or remedy.

7. Limitation of Liability

— Curious Objects is not responsible for loss or damage to items during return shipment, unless shipping has been arranged and insured strictly according to our instructions.

— We reserve the right to deny a refund or replacement for any item that does not comply with this Policy.
